COMPETENCY STATEMENT

Provides children with frequent opportunities to talk with caregivers throughout the day (small group, whole group, outdoor play, mealtimes)

DEFINITIONS

Teachers can enhance children’s language and communication skills through meaningful interactions. They can provide frequent opportunities to talk by asking questions, having discussions during mealtimes and other daily routines, and giving wait time after questions. These conversations foster language development, social skills, and a supportive environment.
