COMPETENCY STATEMENT

Provides repeated opportunities for children to hear and use new vocabulary (singing songs, playful rhymes, and naming items in the environment)

DEFINITIONS

Teachers help children grow their vocabulary by giving them many chances to hear and use new words in fun and meaningful ways. This includes singing songs, saying rhymes, and naming things during play and daily routines. When children hear words often and use them in different situations, they begin to understand and remember them.
