Teacher is actively listening to children as they express themselves verbally or non-verbally.

In this exemplar video, a teacher is having a conversation with an infant about a toy. Notice how the teacher talks to the infant, describing a toy, asking question and allowing time for him to respond in his own way–an example of listening attentively.

This Circle activity encourages teachers to engage in one-on-one conversations with infants, demonstrating positive interactions. Teachers can listen attentively to infants, pausing to allow infants an opportunity to respond, either verbally or nonverbally.
