Resource Description:

In this exemplar video, the teacher asks the children to put on their shoes and says, “Do you need my help?” When a child says, “I need help,” the teacher responds with a smile, gives a high five, and says, “Good job!” Notice how the teacher responds kindly and quickly to the child’s needs showing how to support children’s communication and confidence- an example of acknowledging and expanding on children’s attempts at communication, play, and expression of needs.
