COMPETENCY STATEMENT

Speaks to children using neutral to positive statements and avoids negative, demeaning, or critical comments

DEFINITIONS

Teachers use encouranging and respectful tone and body language when speaking to children. When redirecting, teachers should tell children what is needed using a positively framed statement.
